De Marquette
The Marquette "Prêtez-vous aux autres, mais donnez-vous à vous-même. Parce cue Celui qui craint de souffrir souffre déjà ce qu'il craint." - de Montaigne So that basically translates to always lend yourself to others, and give yourself to yourself. Because the man who fears suffering, is only suffering because of his fears. Its an intresting quote from a French philosopher. He was popular during the Renaissance. And I've been on a French poetry kick lately. Leaving work even today I couldn't help but almost sing Chanson d'automn. Yet as I worked on this little ally pen it made me think of that quote. Always lend yourself to other but give yourself to yourself. It's profetic because there are times when people need our help. Our support. We may only ever he a hidden facet in out lives, but we're always there to support them. But only if that's persons goals and needs align with our own. I had an intresting conversation where I was told that finding one's self is important and difficult. I feel like while that's inherently true, it's only made that much harder if we don't give to ourselves and align ourselves with others that don't resonate with us. It cause strife mentaly. But that's why the second half of the quote is that much more important. If we live in fear of suffering. Or challenge or adversity. We already suffer what we fear. It gives it power when we shy away or take in that which doesn't align. Whether it's a job we won't leave, or a friend that only ever bums us out, a relationship that causes stress ect. If we fear that unknown the unknown becomes that suffering. And not always just for you. Thats what makes the ally flag pen special. Because we must lend ourselves to others in ways that give us gain. And we must not he afraid to take a moment and a risk otherwise. What are we truly aligned with... what are our core values... why not take that risk. You can do it, I believe in you. -Skymaker
